Juntos para poner fin a la ocupación y al racismo, en apoyo a la luchadel pueblo palestino para alcanzar sus derechos nacionales y contra laopresión nacional y social
Incluso a la luz de la evolución de acontecimientos esperanzadores enMedio Oriente, la ola de protestas sociales y el despertar de lasluchas de los pueblos por las libertades y el derecho a vivir condignidad, el pueblo palestino sigue viviendo bajo el yugo de laocupación israelí, a pesar de su lucha persistente y permanente por lalibertad. La comunidad internacional, por su parte, demuestra suimpotencia y contribuye al apoyo de la lucha palestina por laliberación y la justicia.
Los movimientos de protesta y los vientos de cambio que soplan en elmundo árabe han despertado entusiasmo entre quienes buscan libertad entodo el mundo, animando a muchos a adoptar el modelo de la luchapopular. Estos movimientos de protesta han tenido un profundo impactoen numerosos grupos en Israel, tanto entre judíos como palestinos,permitiendo la emergencia del movimiento de protesta popular por lajusticia social en Israel.
Movilizados por nuestra aspiración a alcanzar una paz justa yequitativa en la región, una paz verdaderamente esencial para lospueblos de la región y que promueva la lucha por la justicia y elprogreso para todos, nosotros -fuerzas sociales y políticas palestinase israelíes, representantes de asociaciones de mujeres y jóvenes deambos lados de la Línea Verde- enfatizamos la necesidad de una luchaconjunta, con el objetivo de liberar a los pueblos de la región delcolonialismo y la hegemonía, en particular la del sionismo, poner fina la ocupación y a la agresión militar israelí, apoyando la luchajusta del pueblo palestino para el cumplimiento de su derecho a lalibre determinación de acuerdo con las decisiones de la comunidadinternacional.
Anhelamos la liberación de todos los pueblos de la región de ladictadura, la tiranía y de todas las formas de opresión nacional,social y económica. Por lo tanto, los abajo firmantes, destacamos lo siguiente:
1. Apoyamos la iniciativa palestina de septiembre en las NacionesUnidas, el organismo que lleva la responsabilidad de sentar las basesde la paz internacional, a fin de exigir la plena membrecía dePalestina en la ONU y el reconocimiento de un Estado palestino con lasfronteras del 4 de junio de 1967 con Jerusalén Este como su capital, ypara fortalecer los esfuerzos para poner fin a la ocupación de lastierras del pueblo palestino, con la preservación del derecho delmismo a oponerse a la ocupación y el derecho al retorno de losrefugiados de acuerdo con la Resolución 194 de la ONU. En estecontexto, hacemos hincapié en que la Organización para la LiberaciónPalestina (OLP) es el único y legítimo representante del pueblopalestino, del que su legitimidad se deriva tanto del pueblo palestinoen la patria y el exilio como del reconocimiento que recibió de laLiga Árabe y la ONU.
La iniciativa de la ONU implica una medida legítima. La ONU debecumplir con su rol en el logro de garante de paz y justiciainternacional. Este es un paso que refuerza los derechos del pueblopalestino y de ninguna manera representa una amenaza para Israel, apesar de los grandes esfuerzos del gobierno israelí para presentaresta iniciativa como una declaración de guerra o para dañar lalegitimidad de la existencia de Israel.
2. Entendemos que una de las principales razones de los problemassociales y económicos de los ciudadanos de Israel, además de laspolíticas económicas del capitalismo, es la continuación de laocupación y los presupuestos excesivos destinados a la seguridad, loscuales el gobierno israelí intenta justificar para defender laseguridad de sus asentamientos, por un lado, y las fronteras delEstado, por el otro. Por lo tanto, creemos que el fin de la ocupacióny el establecimiento de una paz justa y equitativa es esencial parauna vida pacífica y bienestar colectivo.
Damos la bienvenida a la participación e integración de la poblaciónpalestina en Israel en la protesta social. Es una importanteoportunidad para presentar ante los distintos grupos de la sociedadisraelí las angustias de los palestinos y las injusticias a las queson sometidos, para que estos grupos pueden asumir la responsabilidaden la lucha contra las políticas de marginalización y discriminaciónconstante contra los palestinos en Israel, para poner fin a laconfiscación de tierras y la plena igualdad, así como a la ocupaciónde territorios palestinos ocupados en 1967.
Advertimos una vez más los intentos por demás conocidos por parte delgobierno israelí de evadir la crisis y sus crisis internas y lapresión de las olas de protesta por medio de la política del miedo queapuntan a señalar una amenaza externa: al presentar la apelaciónpalestina ante la ONU como un "peligro" o por medio de accionesmilitares, como hemos visto en los últimos días a la luz de laescalada en el derramamiento de sangre del pueblo palestino en Gaza.
3. Reconocemos el derecho del pueblo palestino, que vive bajo laocupación, para hacer uso de todas las formas legítimas deresistencia, de acuerdo con las normas internacionales, para removerlos ocupantes de sus tierras y por la autodeterminación. En estecontexto, hacemos hincapié en la importancia de la lucha conjuntapopular de palestinos e israelíes. Una lucha conjunta popular es unode los principios fundamentales rectores en la lucha contra laocupación, los asentamientos, el racismo, el colonialismo, contra laspolíticas de exclusión, vulnerabilidad, empobrecimiento y separaciónracista dentro de Israel.

Contra el "Bluewashing": llamado de Jewish Voice for Peace
We are writing to tell you about a new word, "bluewashing."
bluewash. (verb): the use of Jewish culture, religion, and heritage to try to cover up human rights abuses of Palestinians, while endangering the lives of Jews in Israel and around the world.
To those of us who are GLBTQ, this is nothing new -- Israel has been using sexuality in its propaganda to hide the occupation, in what we call "pinkwashing." It's time to see through the hype and speak out against "bluewashing" as Jews.
One of the worst offenders in bluewashing is AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. AIPAC purports to be the "pro-Israel lobby," but is in fact a powerful lobby for weapons manufacturers. AIPAC wields political power through cloaking itself in Jewishness, giving many, including our Congresspeople, the incorrect impression that it speaks for all Jewish Americans.
As young Jewish Americans we are stating publicly that this is not true: AIPAC does not speak for us. We hope you will join us in bringing this message to AIPAC as part of the upcoming Move Over AIPAC gathering May 21-24 in Washington, DC. In addition to AIPAC’s die-hard supporters, AIPAC's conference going on at the same time will include more than 1,000 college students representing over 300 campuses from all 50 states. Young, Jewish, and Proud will be part of a coalition of poets, artists, well-known activists and authors, and over 100 peace and justice groups in DC to make sure AIPAC can't "bluewash" these students.
In Egypt, in Tunisia, in "Arab Spring" revolutions the righteous and understandable demand was "Leave!" Ours is to "move over!" We are gathering to shout: Move over AIPAC and recognize our diverse Jewish communities and identities for what they are! We are Young, Jewish, and Proud and we won't let AIPAC "bluewash" furthering the Israeli Occupation and denying human rights to Palestinians.

To show this visually, we ask you-- young, proud Jews-- to join us in sharing what makes you YJP and why AIPAC doesn't represent you. Take your picture wearing blue and fill out the simple sentences: "I'm Young, Jewish, and Proud because...[say why] and AIPAC doesn't represent me." Whether you can join us in DC or not, we will bring your images and your words to AIPAC, for their conference in Washington, DC. For those of you who do not identify as young (up to age 36), proud Jews: we will have an action coming soon for you to show your support. Please pass this email on to any young, proud Jews you know.

Please join us in New York City for the exciting 6th Annual "Tree of Life Conference on Israel and Palestine." Jewish Voice for Peace's Executive Director Rebecca Vilkomerson will be one of many featured speakers, including Dr. Naim Ateek of Sabeel, Maya Wind of the Shmnistim, and Col. Ann Wright of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla.
The conference's focus is on the "Next Generation of Peacemakers" and the role of U.S. faith communities. It is part of a series taking place around New England, and is cosponsored by Jewish Voice for Peace, Sabeel, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, We Refuse to Be Enemies, and.the Tree of Life Educational Foundation.
The conference's aim is "to amplify voices of conscience—Jewish, Christian, Muslim, and Druze—who are committed to finding justice and peace together in Israel and Palestine through education and non-violent action. All are concerned with a fundamental question: How can people of faith help make the Holy Land the holy place it could be? Representatives of different faiths will address that question, and consider: 1) the importance of faith traditions’ emphasis on justice as essential to peace, 2) the importance of connectivity and solidarity between our communities here and communities in the Holy Land, and 3) the role in political advocacy of faith communities here in the U.S."

Jews Against Islamophobia is gathering weekly in front of the Simon Wiesenthal Center's Museum of Tolerance New York to demand that it support Park51 and oppose Islamophobia and anti-Arab racism. Simon Wiesenthal Center leadership is also violating international law and human rights principles by building a Museum of Tolerance on top of the Mamilla cemetery in Jerusalem, resulting in the desecration of an historic Muslim burial ground.
As part of its Midday Forum Programme, the United Nations University Office at the UN, New York (UNU-ONY), in association with the Dag Hammerskjold Foundation, is holding an event entitled Can CitizenAction Save the World? at the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Museum of Tolerance on Thursday, October 21st (1:15-2:45 p.m.). In announcing this event, the U.N. University thanks the Simon Wiesenthal Center - New York Tolerance Center and describes the Simon Wiesenthal Center as “fostering tolerance and understanding through community involvement, educational outreach and social action.”
THE SIMON WIESENTHAL CENTER’S MUSEUM OF TOLERANCE IS NEITHER “TOLERANT” NOR AN APPROPRIATE SITE FOR UNITED NATIONS PROGRAMS!
We demand that the leaders of the Simon Wiesenthal Center and its Museum of Tolerance be held accountable for promoting Islamophobia and insist that they uphold their stated mission of “promoting respect and mutual understanding.”
We will provide signs and have a handout for passers-by.Jews Against Islamophobia is a coalition of four Jewish groups — American Jews for a Just Peace, Jewish Voice for Peace, Jews for Racial and Economic Justice, Jews Say No! — that have formed a network to add a strong Jewish voice to the other efforts challenging Islamophobia and anti-Arab racism. Presenting Antigone in Jenin Refugee Camp & The Jenin Media Center and Cinema School
October 16th:
On October 16, New York will be celebrating and promoting two interconnected innovative projects:
Antigone in Jenin Refugee Camp:
Antigone in Jenin Refugee Camp is a fiction film set in the West Bank, Occupied Palestinian Territories, and based on the real-life stories of eight young students at the Freedom Theater, a theater located in the heart of the Camp. Eight film students- four women and four men, between the ages of 19-32, ranging from secular-leftist to traditional-religious- have come together for a single project based on their own stories and struggles. They have already produced four short documentary films exploring the relationship of the Palestinian woman to her society. Now they join renowned filmmakers Juliano Mer Khamis and Udi Aloni, and prominent scriptwriter Alaa Hlehel, in order to make their first fiction film, Antigone in Jenin Refugee Camp.
The Palestinian Media & Talents Center:
The establishment of a media & talents center, a one-of-a-kind hub for young Palestinian creators, in which we will be able to create TV, Internet and cinema contents, from documentaries to miniseries and feature films. Serving all Palestinian artists from Gaza, the West Bank, East Jerusalem, Israel and the Palestinian diaspora, the center aims to promote cultures of resistance without the supervision of any political parties.

Amnistía Internacional "Israel: no es suficiente"
El Gobierno de Israel, bajo presión internacional, ha anunciado que suavizará el bloqueo ilegal a la Franja de Gaza, donde viven millón y medio de personas, y permitirá la entrada de algunos productos. Gracias por haber contribuido con tu firma al clamor internacional que ha provocado la reacción israelí y ha demostrado, una vez más, que juntos podemos influir sobre cualquier Gobierno, por difícil que pueda parecer.Hemos provocado una reacción, pero también ha quedado claro que el Gobierno de Israel pretende seguir castigando a toda la población civil con el bloqueo, que dura ya tres años. Y no vamos a quedarnos de brazos cruzados. En Amnistía Internacional pedimos que se levante el bloqueo completamente y de manera inmediata porque, además de ser ilegal, es inmoral.Tampoco nos vamos a cansar de repetir que la comisión de investigación israelí para el ataque a la flotilla de ayuda humanitaria, en el que murieron varios activistas, no nos vale. Este miércoles 24 de febrero en el aula 008 de la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la UNAM, de 11 a 13 hrs. se proyectarán cuatro breves documentales sobre "Crímenes de guerra". Comentarán Bernardo Ibarrola (Historia) y Silvana Rabinovich (Filosofía). Los documentales en su mayoría tratan acerca del papel de los niños en las guerras.

A year ago today, tens of thousands demanded the release of Israel's youngest prisoners of conscience, the Shministim.
These 12th graders courageously chose prison time over serving in the occupying Israeli army, and became heroes to us and the entire world.
Last Chanukah, just one day after Tamar Katz was released from solitary confinement, the young Shministim gathered to celebrate and to decide how to thank the 20,000 (and counting) Jewish Voice for Peace members who wrote letters, attended rallies, and wrote articles on their behalf.
This is the message they carefully wrote together. One year later, as Shministit Or Ben-David sits in prison in Israel, and as Jews around the world prepare to celebrate the last night of Chanukah, it seems appropriate to share it with you again. We can't imagine a more important message during this festival of lights.
Dear friends and supporters,During Chanukah the festive of lights, we, the Shministim, would like to take a moment to thank you for all you've done for us and for our struggle. While we sit down with our families and light the first candle of the holiday, symbolizing the rebellion against an occupying army, some of us are still behind bars, denied the freedom to celebrate the holiday with their loved ones, denied the right to freedom of thought and political consciousness. During this dark period of consecutive jail terms, military trials and attempts to break our beliefs, you were our light.Each and every one of you who helped with the campaign, who sent a supporting letter, who sent the link of the website to a friend. Israel raciona el agua a la población palestina

La población palestina de los Territorios Palestinos Ocupados (TPO) no tiene acceso a un suministro de agua adecuado y seguro. Esto ha entorpecido sobremanera el desarrollo social y económico de los TPO y negado a muchas comunidades su derecho a un nivel de vida digno. El consumo palestino de agua rara vez alcanza los 70 litros diarios por persona, muy por debajo del mínimo diario de 100 litros per cápita recomendado por la Organización Mundial de la Salud. En contraste, el consumo diario per cápita israelí es cuatro veces superior. La desigualdad es aún más pronunciada entre las comunidades palestinas y los asentamientos israelíes ilegales establecidos en los TPO. Hay zonas de Cisjordania en las que los colonos israelíes utilizan hasta 20 veces más agua per cápita que sus vecinos palestinos. En el informe “Israel/ OPT Troubled Waters: Palestinians denied fair access to water” se revela hasta qué punto el carácter discriminatorio de las políticas y prácticas hídricas de Israel niega a la población palestina su derecho al agua. El impacto de la escasez de agua y los malos servicios de saneamiento de los TPO hacen mella en las comunidades más vulnerables, que son aquellas que viven en zonas rurales aisladas y en campos de refugiados superpoblados. Las comunidades rurales a las que no llega la red de suministro de agua dependen de la recogida de agua de lluvia para cubrir sus necesidades domésticas y agrícolas. En Gaza, entre el 90 y el 95 por ciento del suministro de agua está contaminado y no es apto para el consumo humano. Israel no permite llevar agua desde Cisjordania, y el acuífero costero se va agotando cada vez más debido a la sobreexplotación y a la contaminación de las aguas residuales. El bloqueo impide las reparaciones y la reconstrucción de las maltrechas instalaciones de la franja de Gaza.

La sección española de Amnistía Internacional ha lanzado en su centro de activismo en Internet, www.actuaconamnistia.org, una ciberación para que la ciudadanía le exija a Israel que respete el derecho al agua que tiene la población palestina.
Nota para los medios de comunicación: Este nuevo informe se presenta en el marco de la campaña de Amnistía Internacional Exige Dignidad, que tiene por objeto conseguir que se ponga fin a las violaciones de derechos humanos que contribuyen a crear la pobreza mundial y la intensifican.

Lunes 12 de octubre, 17 hrs. - Presentación del libro de Martin Buber "Una tierra para dos pueblos"
Este libro contiene textos políticos del filósofo Martin Buber (1878-1965), escritos entre 1918-1965 sobre la cuestión israelí - palestina. La selección y edición estuvo a cargo de Paul Mendes-Flohr. Se trata de un libro de sorprendente actualidad, coeditado por IIFL,UNAM y editorial Sígueme, Salamanca, 2009.
